Imagine you’re sitting at a poker table. Except this is the poker table of your life. Every chip represents a unit of energy, time, effort, and even money. You start investing in different categories, your career, relationship, friends, family, fitness. Or maybe you take the entire stack and place it on your career. Or maybe you only put one chip on each because you’re scared you’re going to lose them. Or maybe you just watch other people play. Then you’re just taking a chair someone else should be sitting in.
Where are you putting your chips right now in life? Is all your energy and effort on your career? How many chips you got on your relationship? How many with friends? Family? What about the passion box? You got any there? Maybe your career is your passion. Great. How many chips are on that? What about the box that says “the past”? How many chips on that? Don’t lie. We both know. What about the future box? How much time, effort, and energy do you invest in future trippin’? And the “just for you” box? Probably nothing.
If you want to get shit done, first you actually have to decide to play this game That means invest, bet. Then you have to know where you want to place your chips. You only have a limited stack. There’s only so much time in a day. You only have so much energy. Most place all their chips in one or two boxes and lose fast. Our potency lives in balance. That doesn’t mean distribute all your chips equally in all boxes. Balance according to your truth, who you are and how you want to live your life. This is different for everyone. Your time, energy, and efforts should be invested in things that line up with that.
Also, you invest because you believe. Not because you are hoping to get lucky.
What about this? If you could clear the table and place brand new bets, where would you place them?
